Key details
The vision for the Southport Priority Development Area (PDA) is to deliver the Gold Coast Central Business District (CBD).
The PDA covers 195 hectares in the Southport CBD and includes residential, retail, commercial, financial, educational and community uses.
The PDA was declared on 4 October 2013.
Development scheme
The development scheme is the regulatory document which assists with planning, carrying out, promoting, coordinating and controlling land development within the PDA.
The Southport PDA Development Scheme commenced on 5 September 2014.

Development assessment
The City of Gold Coast Council assesses development applications for this PDA.
All development applications are assessed against the development scheme.
Infrastructure
Funding and building infrastructure is key to facilitating development within PDAs and is outlined in the Infrastructure Funding Framework.
Council's adopted infrastructure charges are applicable to development within the PDA.
