Declared on 28 March 2008 and located three kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, the Bowen Hills Priority Development Area (PDA) covers 108-hectares of land in the inner northern suburb of Bowen Hills.
The Bowen Hills PDA is located east of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, south of the inner city bypass and Enoggera Creek and north of Brunswick Street. Landmark places within the PDA include the RNA Showgrounds, the Old Museum, Perry Park and the Bowen Hills Railway Station.
All development applications for the Bowen Hills Priority Development Area are to be lodged with and assessed by the department.
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) has commenced a review of the Bowen Hills PDA Development Scheme, planned to be completed in 2019.
In May 2016, as part of Stage 1 – Information Review, EDQ gathered the community's feedback through two community information sessions and an online survey.
EDQ has completed Stage 2 – Planning Options Analysis, examining planning options and concepts based on information gathered in stage 1
EDQ is now in Stage 3 – Draft Amendment and Public Notification, preparing proposed development scheme amendments which will be publicly notified to the community.

Note: In February 2013 the Urban Land Development Act 2007 (ULDA Act) was repealed and replaced with the Economic Development Act 2012 (ED Act). From then on land areas identified for priority development were referred to as PDAs not UDAs and existing UDAs were transitioned under the ED Act. Any reference to the term UDA on this website is taken to mean a transitioned UDA.
